My Clever Guy and Our Proposal Story

I like it when people ask how Scott proposed because just like every bride-to-be I love talking about this subject- but at the same time I dread it because it takes forever to tell! I was expecting Scott to propose any time because we had been talking about it and ring shopping and everything but I didn't expect him to do it right when he did. For those of you who don't know I've been a live-in nanny for the McQuarrie family in Orem for the past year. They have twin girls Ellie and Annie and a little boy Parker. Here are the twins with their cousin Summer (I stole the picture from their aunt's facebook page)

And here is Parker with Scott:

So anyways, he had the parents Natalie and Jared in on it. I had been working all day and was tired and really wasn't thinking I was going to get engaged that night. I'm obsessed with the show America's Next Top Model so Scott knew I'd be on their couch watching. The show was almost over and Natalie came in with a FedEx box that she said was on the porch. I was really confused because I hadn't ordered anything and my mom sends me FedEx packages but always tells me when one is on the way. I opened it and it was filled with a bunch of ring boxes. I started opening those and they each had a little love note that he had typed Chinese fortune cookie style. They each said the cutest things and I could tell he really had thought about what he wanted to say because they were things that really applied to us and weren't corny generic statements :) Then Scott walked in with a big thing of flowers and another ring box. He said we had been together for 16 months so the first 15 boxes were to tell me how much he loved me and that the 16th box was to show me how much he loved me and then he got down on one knee and said his whole little proposal spiel.

Here are some pictures: the FedEx box label that confused me, all 16 boxes including the one with my ring, some of my favorite love notes and another picture of us from right after he proposed.

  1. Kayley! How fun! I love being surprised, so I'm sure this was SO much fun. I heard you and your mom want to use Jackie for your wedding... it would have been so fun to have her back out here for that! We will be right smack in the middle of Europe at that time though. I'm sad I'm missing your big day!
